What is prompt engineering?
Prompt engineering is the practice of writing instructions for an AI model so it does what you want. A prompt is everything you send the model: the question, any examples, the format you want back, and background it needs. Small changes to a prompt - giving an example, asking for steps, setting a role - can change the answer a lot.
These courses teach the techniques, from basic structure to examples (few-shot prompting), step-by-step reasoning (chain of thought) and avoiding made-up answers. Some are for anyone using a chatbot; others use code to call a model through its API.
Who these courses are for

Frequently asked questions
What is prompt engineering?+
Prompt engineering is writing and refining the instructions you give an AI model, such as the question, examples and the format you want, so that it produces the answer you need.
Can I learn prompt engineering for free?+
Yes. Anthropic's Prompt Engineering Interactive Tutorial, DeepLearning.AI and OpenAI's ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers, and freeCodeCamp's Prompt Engineering Tutorial are all free.
Do I need to code to learn prompt engineering?+
Not for the basics: freeCodeCamp's tutorial is a video you can follow without code. ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers states that only a basic understanding of Python is needed, and Anthropic's tutorial uses exercises that call Claude.
