How It Works
Claude reads your prompt plus any attached files or prior conversation, then generates a response token by token, choosing each next word based on everything before it. For longer or more complex requests, Claude can use "extended thinking" to reason through the problem in steps before answering, and can call tools (web search, code execution, file editing) mid-task. Artifacts and Projects keep generated documents/code and project-specific context persistent across a session instead of buried in chat history.
