A model called Ox Alpha went live on OpenRouter on August 21, 2026 under the identifier stealth/ox-alpha. It costs nothing to use, takes a 1M-token context window, returns up to 128K output tokens, and accepts text, image, and video input through an OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions API.

Who built it is not public. OpenRouter's listing says the model "is developed and operated by a third-party provider who has chosen to remain anonymous during this preview," and states that OpenRouter is not its developer, owner, or provider. The oxalpha.io reference site names no company either.

OpenRouter's notice states that prompts and completions sent to Ox Alpha are retained by the provider and are not used for training, with all other use governed by OpenRouter's Stealth Model Terms.

On measured performance, OpenRouter reports a median throughput of 23 tokens per second and median latency of 5.48 seconds, with 99.98% uptime and 99.51% availability over its first three days. The tool call error rate sits at 1.91%. A single provider serves every request, so there is no routing or failover.

Ox Alpha does not appear on arena.ai, Artificial Analysis, or the Design for Online leaderboard as of August 23. OpenRouter states the anonymity applies "during this preview." Neither it nor oxalpha.io names the provider or gives a date for when the free listing ends.
