OpenAI has published broad access standards to align safety policies across services offering models such as GPT-6 Astra. The update establishes consistent safeguards for models accessed directly through OpenAI, hosted by partners, or distributed via reseller partners.
OpenAI is updating its Usage Policies, effective November 20, 2026, to clarify rules for safe model development and sensitive uses of AI, requiring services that provide direct access to models such as model routers or AI gateways to get review and approval before offering that access.
To assist with investigations without exposing user identities, OpenAI is working with customers to introduce SafetyIDs. Customers can provide SafetyIDs to help OpenAI distinguish between individual end users in an investigation without learning those users' identities.
