OpenAI has made Daybreak Red available in AWS GovCloud (US-East), bringing GPT-5.6 Cyber to approved government cybersecurity teams through Amazon Bedrock.
Building on the existing availability of Daybreak models on Amazon Bedrock, this deployment offers government security teams a new way to apply advanced cybersecurity capabilities within the AWS environments they rely on to support critical missions. Daybreak Red delivers access to OpenAI's purpose-trained cybersecurity models specifically designed for authorized vulnerability research, exploit validation, and security testing.
Defenders can use GPT-5.6 Cyber to help investigate complex software weaknesses, reproduce vulnerabilities in controlled settings, and develop mitigations. OpenAI states that qualified security practitioners should review findings and proposed fixes prior to implementation.
Adopting advanced cybersecurity tools requires government organizations to meet established security, governance, and operational requirements. Availability in AWS GovCloud (US-East) gives eligible teams a path to incorporate GPT-5.6 Cyber directly into those workflows. Defenders can reason through security findings, assess their impact, and evaluate potential fixes, helping connect vulnerability research to practical improvements in defense operations.
Daybreak Red offers verified defenders greater latitude when conducting authorized cybersecurity work, featuring fewer refusals for these tasks alongside stronger identity verification, monitoring, and access controls.
For Daybreak Red running on Amazon Bedrock, inference data is not used to train models. Customers are also not required to share their Daybreak Red data with OpenAI.
Gaining access requires approval for OpenAI Daybreak Red along with AWS provisioning. To get started, organizations must complete the Daybreak application or contact their OpenAI or AWS account team to verify eligibility. OpenAI notes that Daybreak Red approval does not automatically enable model access on AWS, so approved organizations must work directly with their AWS account team to enable access.
