Google introduced updates for American football in Search, adding a Live Game Feed, expanded league metrics, and direct roster integration for fantasy managers, according to Google's product announcement.
The new Live Game Feed lets people follow ongoing professional games on mobile in real time. Searching for an active game displays a red "Live" icon, accompanied by an overall recap of the matchup, a dynamic timeline containing play-by-play updates, top social commentary, key video highlights, and AI-generated insights. The feature is available on mobile in the U.S. in English, with support for collegiate teams and broader international availability scheduled for rollout later in the month.
For league tracking, Search added a matchup carousel that displays scores across the league when a user searches for an individual matchup. The update adds leaderboards for metrics such as passing touchdowns and rushing yards, alongside defensive and offensive stats including sacks, fumbles, and yards after catch. Google will also add playoff brackets and championship predictions to mobile searches globally.
Fantasy football managers can link Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper accounts to Search via AI Mode. Once connected, AI Mode accesses live roster details across all active leagues to generate start or sit recommendations, identify waiver wire targets, assess draft picks, and provide weekly league recaps without requiring manual data entry or uploaded screenshots. Users can submit feedback on the responses using thumbs up and thumbs down buttons. The fantasy football connection feature is currently available on mobile in the U.S. in English.
