Google made Gemini 3.8 Flash generally available on 2 September 2026. Google's documentation describes it as "our most intelligent Flash model, engineered for long-horizon software engineering, autonomous agents, and complex enterprise workflows," served from the gemini-3.8-flash endpoint.
The model takes a 1M token context window and returns up to 64k output tokens. Thinking is tunable across three levels — low, medium as the default, and high. The minimal level supported by some earlier models is not accepted and returns an error.
Pricing is introductory: $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens, stated as running through 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027 the standard rate is $1.50 and $7.50 — double the launch price. Batch and Flex tiers are half those rates and Priority is 1.8x.
On the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v4.1.1, Gemini 3.8 Flash scores 59 at high effort, against 56 for Gemini 3.7 Flash, which shipped three weeks earlier.
