Google Commits $10 Million to Nevada Energy Impact Fund

On Sep 15, 2026, Google announced a new initiative designed to support energy innovation and affordability in the state of Nevada. According to Google's announcement of the initiative, the company is establishing a $10 million Energy Impact Fund, which is also referred to as the EIF.

A portion of this capital is allocated directly to residential support. Specifically, Google is providing $5 million of the total investment to the Nevada Clean Energy Fund, or NCEF. This funding is designed to help families living within Google's data center communities lower their utility bills and improve overall home health and safety.

The $5 million contribution is earmarked to support NCEF's Residential Energy Upgrade Program, which is also known as RE-UP. This program focuses on bringing free weatherization and energy efficiency improvements to households. It is specifically designed to assist families who face financial barriers to making home upgrades but do not qualify for other existing assistance programs.

These investments will be distributed across Google's data center communities in both North Nevada and South Nevada. For the participating families and their surrounding communities, the upgrades are intended to reduce monthly energy bills while delivering public health and grid resiliency benefits. Google noted that these benefits and upgrades will be provided at no cost to Nevada's residents.

This announcement represents the start of the Energy Impact Fund's activities in the state. Google stated that it is partnering with NCEF as of the announcement date, and the company plans to announce its next grant from the fund later this year.
