The Technology Innovation Institute launched Falcon Perception in May 2026, the first Falcon model built specifically for dense multimodal perception rather than language or reasoning.

It runs at roughly 600 million parameters - very small next to the multi-billion-parameter vision systems it competes with - and TII reports performance comparable to leading models while reducing computational demands and system complexity. The model identifies, segments and analyses objects within complex images using natural language prompts, aimed at robotics and document processing.

TII also shipped two language releases in January 2026 alongside the Falcon H1 34B Instruct entry on our roster:

  • Falcon-H1 Arabic - built on a hybrid Mamba-Transformer architecture rather than a pure transformer, and the highest-performing system on the Open Arabic LLM Leaderboard.
  • Falcon H1R 7B - the reasoning variant of the H1 family, reaching results at 7 billion parameters that had previously required frontier-scale models.

Timing note: TII announced Falcon Perception in May 2026 without a precise date we could verify, so this item carries our publication date.
