Google Vids Will Generate 1080p Video Free, With a Watermark in Every Frame

Anyone with a Google Account can now generate 1080p video at no cost. Google’s announcement puts the Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model inside Google Vids, reachable from a desktop browser at vids.new under “Create AI videos”.

The editing controls are the part that suggests this is meant for real work rather than demos. Scenes can be extended while holding visual context, lighting, character appearance and environment steady — the four things that usually fall apart when a generated clip is stretched. Clip durations can be set to match a script or a voiceover instead of whatever length the model felt like producing. New scenes generate directly in 1080p, and existing AI clips can be upscaled.

Every clip carries a SynthID watermark embedded into the frames themselves, imperceptible in playback and readable by detection tools afterwards.

Narration is coming: Google say Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite text-to-speech will arrive in Vids, turning typed scripts into voiceovers across more than 100 languages.

The free tier has limits rather than being unlimited — heavier use routes to Google AI plans for personal accounts, or Workspace Business and Enterprise plans for larger generation pools.
